I have been evaluating and practicing various styles of meditation for the past 8 years in an attempt to create a system that would allow me to manage stress, mild depression, and digestive issues that resulted from an excess of both. What I have found has been documented within this site and is entirely my own findings and experiences.
I am a natural planner, so my mind has always been a busy one. In my 40's I began having problems with insomnia and digestion. After a few doctor's visits I realized that my body was just not going to be able to keep up with all my plans if I did not learn to take better care of it. Exercise helped but the symptoms did not go away until I met and began practicing meditation with Matthew Casey, a local instructor. It took a while to get started, and after numerous failed attempts to quiet my inner chatter I finally got serious and began to create the daily practice I still use today. Meditation has become an important part of my daily life and I have been able to surpass what I initially thought was possible. My health has improved tremendously and I no longer suffer from insomnia or the digestive issues, which previously haunted me. The best way to describe it would be to say, it has been a miracle for me.
The meditations I have listed here are some I developed once I began teaching, and I have found them most helpful for beginners who are struggling to tame their busy thoughts. I still use them myself when I have an extra stressful day, and they serve me well every single time. You never know what life can truly be until you take the time to experience it one moment at a time. Our lives are lived in such a state of emergency, that we miss the true meaning. We miss what it is all about. That is what meditation has given me and though I cannot give you the meaning of your life, I hope that I can help you to learn to quiet your mind enough to hear your own answer.

I would love to hear from you.
